Ritzaus Bureau I / S ( Ritzau for short ) is a Danish news agency that was founded in 1866 by Erik Nikolai Ritzau under the name "Nordisk Centralbureau for Telegrammer" . It is the largest independent Danish news agency.

Ritzau publicly announced the opening of his agency on January 31, 1866. One day later, Copenhagen newspapers were printing news from his company.

The company currently has around 150 employees, including around 100 editors. The head office is in Copenhagen with editorial offices in Christiansborg , Aarhus , Brussels and Berlin . The editor-in-chief is Uffe Riis Sørensen .
