Roadwar 2000 is a 1986 computer game that was published by Strategic Simulations (SSI). It belongs to the category of turn-based strategy games and is set in a post-apocalyptic world that - similar to Mad Max - has succumbed to lawlessness and is terrorized by roaming gangs.

description

In 1999 a deadly virus was released by a group of terrorists that led to the collapse of the United States. Various gangs and militias have emerged from the chaos and are fighting for supplies, food, medicines and vehicles in their respective territories. These vehicles have become the most important means of transport.

The player starts out as the leader of a small gang and over time must manage to put together a militia of a respectable size. On your way through devastated America, you will deal with gangs, cannibals, religious fanatics and mutants. The vehicles to be captured serve as important weapons.

If you are successful enough, the remaining (and relatively powerless) American government will notice you and ask to help find eight scientists. These are to be brought to a secret base in order to develop an antidote to the deadly epidemic.
