Robert Aumüller

Robert Aumüller (born August 4, 1878 in Oberursel , † December 1953 in Delitzsch ) was a German manager in the sugar industry. From 1938 to 1945 he headed the German sugar industry as chairman of the economic group.

Life

Aumüller attended grammar school in Frankfurt am Main and studied chemistry at the universities of Munich , Marburg and Gießen . In Munich he was a member of the Corps Makaria , in Marburg of the Corps Guestphalia . After completing his training, he joined the Friedrichsthal sugar factory as a chemist, later he was at the Opalenitza sugar factory, and from 1901 at the newly built Forli sugar factoryin Italy. In 1906 he became director of the Vitzenburg sugar factory. On July 1, 1915, Aumüller took over the management of the Delitzsch sugar factory as the successor to his father-in-law Ludwig Kuntze, which he kept until it was dismantled by the Soviet occupying forces. After Kuntze's death in 1926 he also became head of Delitzsch beet seed cultivation. Aumüller expanded the sugar factory and took over the capacities of the closed factories in Brehna, Schwoitsch and Schortewitz.

In 1923 Aumüller was elected to the committee of the Association of the German Sugar Industry for the first time, and in 1927 to the committee of the raw sugar factory department. In 1926 he became chairman of the Saxon-Thuringian branch association. He was a member of the select committee of the export association of German beet sugar factories, member of the board of the economic association of the German sugar industry and from 1934 deputy chairman. In 1938 he was elected chairman of the sugar industry business group to succeed Fritz Harney . He held this office until 1945.

After the collapse, Aumüller and the Delitzsch sugar factory not only lost his life's work, but also his own property in Kranichfeld. He tried to rebuild the factory under the occupation administration, but was forced by the authorities in the Soviet Zone to resign from his positions as director of the sugar factory and manager of Delitzscher beet seed cultivation. He lived in Delitzsch until his death.
