Robert T. Bigelow (born May 12, 1945 ) is an American billionaire and owner of the hotel chain Budget Suites of America. He is the founder of Bigelow Aerospace , a company that worked on the development of a private, commercial space station ( CSS Skywalker ).

To promote the development of private rocket technology, Bigelow initiated the America's Space Prize, endowed with 50 million US dollars .

In an interview on May 28, 2017, Bigelow stated on the television program CBS 60 Minutes that he is "absolutely convinced" that there "was and is an extraterrestrial presence on earth".

education

Bigelow spent his school days in Las Vegas , Nevada and attended the local Highland Elementary School. In 1962, at the request of his father, he began studying banking and real estate economics at the University of Nevada at Reno , but his father died shortly afterwards in a plane crash. Bigelow graduated from Arizona State University in 1967 .
