Robert FitzPayn

Robert FitzPayn (* around 1321 - † May 21, 1393 ) was an English nobleman.

Robert FitzPayn was born as Robert de Gray, the younger son of Sir Richard de Gray and his wife Joan FitzPayn. After his father's death in 1335, his older brother John de Gray inherited his father's estate in Derbyshire . In 1354, after the death of Sir Robert FitzPayn, 2nd Baron FitzPayn , one of his maternal uncles , Gray inherited part of his property in south-west England, which is why he adopted the name FitzPayn. This legacy included estates at Cary Fitzpaine , Staple Fitzpaine and Cheddon Fitzpaine in Somerset and at Wraxall in Dorset . During the Hundred Years War he took part in the campaign of King Edward III in 1359 . to Reims .

Robert married Elizabeth de Brian, daughter of Guy Brian, 1st Baron Brian , between August 16, 1351 and October 16, 1354 . With her he had a daughter who became his heiress:
