Robert G. Eccles

Robert G. Eccles (* 1951 ) is an American economist and Professor of Management Practice at Harvard Business School . It is regarded as a capacity in the theory and practice of corporate reporting, especially integrated reporting .

Career

Eccles received a Bachelor Degree (SB) in Mathematics and Humanities from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1973 , his Masters (AM, 1975) and Ph.D., 1979) in Sociology from Harvard University . He began teaching at Harvard and was given a full professorship in 1989. In 1993, Eccles left university and worked in industry. In 2007 he returned to Harvard and took on a teaching post again.

research

Immediately after receiving the professorship, Eccles undertook research on the core topic of operational reporting. He remained connected to this topic from various perspectives, for example research, management practice and from the point of view of the public sector. He has penned several books on this subject. Following Eccle's approach, he integrates various reporting strands, such as environmental, social and regulatory (financial) reporting tasks, into one integrated report.

Honors

Eccle's book One Report , written with Michael P. Krzu's , won the 2010 American Publishers Award for Professional and Scholarly Excellence (PROSE-Award) in the Business, Finance & Management category.
