Robert Harbin
Robert Harbin (born February 14, 1908 as Edward Richard Charles Williams ; † January 12, 1978 ) was an English magician , inventor and author from South Africa .
Life
As a schoolboy in South Africa, the young Williams first saw a magician who inspired him. When he was 20 he came to London, England, and got a job as a salesman in the Gamages magic shop. At the same time he appeared as a magician under the name Ned Williams, The Boy from South Africa . In 1937 he appeared for the first time on English television on the BBC. In 1940 he received his own magic broadcast. In 1963 he presented his own creation for the first time, the Zig-Zag Girl Illusion , which he described in detail in 1970 in his book The Magic of Robert . The book was limited to 500 copies and allowed any rightful owner to build and demonstrate this feat. But shortly afterwards the trick was copied and sold without authorization by countless magicians. In addition to the art of magic, Harbin dealt intensively with the art of paper folding origami , about which he also published several books. He was in the Golders Green Crematorium in London cremated , where his ashes is located.
