Robert Loriot

Robert Loriot (* 1907 ; † 1980 ) was a French Romance philologist and dialectologist .

life and work

Loriot completed his habilitation in 1960 at the University of Montpellier (with Jean Bourciez ) with the two theses La Structure linguistique du sud de la Picardie et du nord de l'Ile-de-France. Oise et Seine-et-Oise. Etude des comportements phonétiques (published posthumously ud T. Les parlers de l'Oise. La structure linguistique du Sud de la Picardie. Etude de comportements phonétiques , edited by the Association bourguignonne de dialectologie et d'onomastique and the Société de linguistique picarde, Fontaine-lès-Dijon 1984) and La frontière dialectale modern en Haute-Normandie. Pays de Bray, Vallée de la Bresle, Forêt d'Eu, Talou, Aliermont (Amiens 1967). He was a professor at the University of Dijon .

Loriot was the magazine Linguistique picarde from 1964 . Revue trimestrielle de la Société de linguistique picarde. Organe d'information de l'Atlas linguistique picard et du Trésor des parlers et traditions du Nord de la France (most recently 171, 2005). As part of the project of a French language atlas by region, Loriot (with Raymond Dubois) was responsible for the Picardy region and published a questionnaire. After his death, the project was completed by Fernand Carton and Maurice Lebègue (with a reduced questionnaire).
