Robert Rich, 1st Earl of Warwick
Robert Rich, 1st Earl of Warwick ( December 1559 - March 24, 1618 in London ) was an English nobleman.
He was the son of Robert Rich, 2nd Baron Rich , and Elizabeth Baldry. When his father died in 1581, he inherited his title Baron Rich . In 1619 he was also raised to Earl of Warwick .
He was married twice. His first wife, Penelope Devereux , daughter of Walter Devereux, 1st Earl of Essex , he married on January 10, 1581. He divorced her in November 1605. The couple had seven children together:
- Robert Rich, 2nd Earl of Warwick (June 5, 1587 - April 19, 1658)
- Henry Rich, 1st Earl of Holland (baptized August 19, 1590 - March 9, 1649)
- Charles Rich
- Lettice Rich named after her maternal grandmother, Lettice Knollys
- Penelope Rich († October 26, 1613) ⚭ Sir Gervase Clifton, 1st Baronet
- Essex Rich ⚭ Sir Thomas Cheeke
- Isabella Rich ⚭ Sir John Smythe.
He later married Francey Wray, daughter of Sir Christopher Wray of Glentworth, on December 14, 1616 . The marriage remained childless.
