Robert Schumacher (born January 13, 1936 in Remscheid ; † January 14, 1995 ) was a German SPD politician .

education and profession

After primary school and obtaining the technical college entrance qualification, Robert Schumacher completed an apprenticeship in plumbing and heating construction, which he completed in 1954 with the journeyman's examination. From 1958 to 1959 he attended the State Technical School in Karlsruhe. He passed the master craftsman examination in 1959. He then attended the federal technical college for plumbing and central heating construction, which he finished in 1959 as a state-certified heating technician. From 1959 to 1982 he was in charge of a craft business for plumbing and heating technology.

politics

Robert Schumacher had been a member of the SPD since 1963. From 1970 to 1995 he was a member of the SPD sub-district executive committee in Remscheid. Schumacher became a member of the Remscheid City Council in 1964, which he remained until his death in 1995. From 1972 he was parliamentary group leader of the SPD in the council. Schumacher was a member of the workers' welfare and a member of the Pro Familia.

From May 29, 1980 until his death on January 14, 1995, Robert Schumacher was a directly elected member of the 9th, 10th and 11th Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia for the constituency 037 Remscheid.
