Robert Ferdinand August Weintraud (* 1860 , † 1927 ) was the founder of the Rowenta factory in Offenbach am Main . He developed his company significantly from a supplier for the leather goods industry to a manufacturer of electrical household appliances.

Live and act

Weintraud was born in 1860 as a descendant of the Offenbach case and portfolio manufacturer Johann Christian Weintraud (1809–1878). Robert Weintraud initially followed the family tradition and founded the company "Weintraud & Comp" with his business partners Aulmann and Heyne in 1884, a metal goods supplier for the leather goods industry. In 1909 the company was renamed "Robert Weintraud GmbH & Co KG" and the Rowenta brand was registered with the Imperial Patent Office . The name Rowenta is an acronym for the first and last name of Robert Weintraud. In the meantime, Weintraud expanded the production of metal accessories for leather goods to include smoking and writing utensils and household appliances. He recognized the market potential of electrical household appliances at an early stage and had an electrically operated iron developed in his factory from 1912 onwards. Shortly thereafter, his factory also produced heating, cooking and warming equipment, as well as lighting and lighters. In 1914 Robert Weintraud retired from the company.
