Robert Zimmermann (Judoka)

Robert Zimmermann (born July 18, 1987 ) is a former German judoka .

Athletic career

Zimmermann was appointed to the junior national team by Detlef Ultsch and was third in the U20 European Championships in the weight class up to 90 kilograms in 2005 and 2006 . In 2008 he was German champion in this weight class. In 2010 he won the German Championships again, but now in the weight class over 100 kilograms. In May 2010 he won the World Cup tournament in São Paulo . In 2012 he won his third German championship title. At the European Championships in 2013 , he finished seventh after losing to the French Teddy Riner in the quarterfinals . In July 2013 Zimmermann won the Grand Slam tournament in Moscow with a final victory over the German Andreas Tölzer . At the 2013 World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, he was eliminated in his first fight against the South Korean Kim Soo-whan .

In the Judo Bundesliga , Robert Zimmermann fought for the University Judo and Martial Arts Club in Potsdam .
