Teddy Pierre-Marie Riner (born April 7, 1989 in Pointe-à-Pitre , Guadeloupe ) is a French judoka . He is 2.05 meters tall and weighs about 130 kg.

Career

At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 and in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 , he was Olympic heavyweight champion. He is the second French Olympic champion after David Douillet to win this title at two consecutive Olympic Games in the heavyweight division. In 2012, 2016 and 2017, Riner was named France's Sportsman of the Year by the sports daily L'Équipe . From 2010 to 2020 he did not lose a fight (154 wins in a row), although he did not contest in 2018. In 2019 he made a comeback and won the Grand Slams in Montreal and Brasilia . On February 9th, 2020 he was defeated in the third round of the IJF Grand Slam tournament in Paris to the Japanese Kokoro Kageura in extra time ("Golden Score") by Uchi-mata-sukashi. In his career, Riner lost only nine fights at major international events.
