Yasuhiro Yamashita ( Japanese 山下 泰 裕 , Yamashita Yasuhiro ; born July 1, 1957 in Yabe (today: Yamato ), Kamimashiki-gun , Japan ) is one of the most successful Japanese judoka and holder of the 8th Dan .

Between October 1977 and his retirement in April 1985 he was undefeated and won 203 fights mostly with Ippon . He was nine times all-Japanese champion, four times world champion and Olympic champion of Los Angeles . From 1970 to 1985, Yasuhiro Yamashita won 528 fights, lost only 16 times and fought 15 times draws. Yasuhiro Yamashita is a professor at Tōkai University in Japan and since 2003 Education & Coaching Director of the International Judo Federation (IJF). In June 2017 he is to be elected President of the All Japan Judo Federation (AJJF) , succeeding Shoji Muneoka .
