Roberto Leher
Roberto Leher (* 1961 ) is a Brazilian educationalist and current rector of the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro .
Life
Leher graduated in biology from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 1984. He then moved from 1985 to 1989 to the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) in Niterói for the subject of educational science and received his teaching license with the thesis Qualificação do trabalho. To estudo em biotecnologia 1989. In addition, he was at the Universidade de São Paulo (USP) in educational science with the doctoral thesis Da ideologia do desenvolvimento à ideologia da globalização. A educação como estratégia do Banco Mundial para alívio da pobreza graduated in 1998. He is adjunct professor at the UFRJ's Faculty of Education, to which he has been a member since 1988, and is also in charge of the postgraduate program in this subject. He is a member of various editorial teams , including the magazines Educação e Sociedade , Margem Esquerda , Outubro , Temporalis , Trabalho Necessário , Humanidades from Costa Rica and the Universidade e Sociedade .
He was elected the 28th Rector of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro on May 7, 2015 and took office on July 3, 2015 alongside Denise Nascimento as Vice Rector.
During his tenure , the National Museum attached to the UFRJ burned down . Leher has been criticized, among other things, for the fact that the budget for the museum is less than the expenses for the rector's wages.
