Rock 'n' Roll Daddy (Original Title: All Together Now ) is an Australian sitcom from 1990. It comprises a total of 101 episodes in three seasons. The series revolves around old hippie Bobby Rivers (Jon English), who is still mourning his long-lost success as a rock 'n' roll star.

action

Bobby Rivers is a musician who had a number one hit with his band called "Easy Street" in the 1970s and became very famous overnight. But this remained the band's only big hit. Almost two decades later, however, there is nothing left of either money or fame. The old hippie, however, defies time and reality in his simple-minded manner and lives in a house with Doug, his former roadie and friend, and keeps himself afloat with odd jobs. The majority of the domestic income is contributed by Doug, who as a taxi driver usually has to work overtime so that there is something to eat on the table. He also takes on most of the household chores such as cooking, washing, cleaning, washing up or ironing. This leaves him little free time, which is why Doug doesn't have many friends, because he simply doesn't have the time. But he is happy to take on these exertions so that Bobby can fully develop in his work as a musician.

For Doug, the old hippie with the long gray hair is a musical genius. However, Bobby was never able to match his old successes again. Instead, he plays in supermarkets, children's birthday parties and hospitals. His manager Wayne Lovett got him this engagement . Wayne is a cutthroat who takes Bobby large sums of money from his fee and "his best horse in the stable" , as Wayne always calls Bobby, even at the strangest events and with the most suspicious characters. The somewhat simple-minded Bobby gives his manager a free hand in almost all matters, since he has no idea about these things, and so the former rock star always lives with the dream of one day being able to celebrate a big revival .

One day Bobby meets a woman who knows him from when he was on tour with his old band “Still Waters”. Slowly but surely it dawns on Bobby and he remembers Tracy. Bobby still thinks that she just wants to visit him, but then she claims that Bobby is the father of two children he fathered 15 years ago with a woman named Beth on a tour. Tracy also tells him that Beth was killed in a plane crash and that the children have lived with her and she has been looking after them ever since. Of course, Bobby wants to see the two of them, but Tracy wants to prevent this, because Beth herself didn't want Bobby to find out about Thomas and Anna, the names of the twins. Tracy was of the opinion, however, that Bobby had a right to at least know of the children's existence. When Bobby promises her that he would not tell the children that he is their father if he can see them, she agrees and brings the children with him the next day. When greeting the children, Bobby accidentally reveals that he is the father of the two.

The children are stunned when they face their real father, whom they have never seen in their life. Thomas in particular, to whom money and material things mean more than anything else, doesn't seem to like it. When Bobby and Doug learn that Tracy and the children are practically homeless, they offer to move into the house. They reluctantly accept the offer. Still, it doesn't take long for Tracy and Anna to realize what a lovable person Bobby is and especially to appreciate this side of him.
