Test program

Scaled Composites has performed various test ignitions with scaled-down versions since June 2005. A test in 2007 resulted in an explosion in which three employees were killed. This led to delays at Scaled Composites. In 2009, the rocket motor was ignited for the first time in its original size, and in 2011 the first with full burn time. A total of ten test runs had been carried out by April 2012.
