from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rocketboom was a mostly three-minute video blog that was updated on weekdays and was active from 2004 to 2013.

Until June 2006 it was the collaboration between actress Amanda Congdon, who also acted as hostess, and co-producer Andrew Baron. The two started Rocketboom on October 26, 2004. Congdons last Rocketboom entry was on June 23, 2006. Andrew Baron announced the end of the collaboration on July 11, 2006; Congdon disagreed with the Rocket Boom version, describing it as being sacked.

From July 6, 2009, Molly Windman presented the show.

Rocketboom was one of the most successful video blogs in the world with more than 300,000 downloads a day. Ehrensenf was considered a German copy .

History and popularity

Rocketboom started in 2004 with 700 viewers daily, about 70,000 viewers in the first few months. In early 2005, the blog was featured on CBS Evening News and other media reported about it. On January 9, 2006, Newsweek wrote that Rocketboom had around 130,000 viewers daily.

On February 2, 2006, Rocketboom was integrated into an episode of the television series CSI : In one scene, the murderer watches the report on his act on Rocketboom. The New York Times later reported on the large audience of the hit show.

In the spring of 2006, Rocketboom reached at least 250,000 complete downloads per day. Each of the daily episodes have been downloaded more than 300,000 times. Rocketboom reported that some popular episodes were downloaded up to a million times.

In April 2006, advertising was included in the show for the first time.

The daily video entries on the Rocketboom website were made between 2004 and 2006 under the direction of Baron, some of the 2006 entries under Mario Librandi.

The piece of music that opens every show is called "Zoom a little Zoom", from the 1959 album Space Songs by Hy Zaret and Lou Singer. The rights to the recording have expired. This makes the song common knowledge. The piece was sung by Tom Glazer and Dottie Evans, with Tony Mottola underlay .

The project was ended in November 2013.
