Hy Zaret
Hy Zaret , actually Hyman Harry Zaritsky (born August 27, 1907 in New York , † July 2, 2007 in Westport , Connecticut ) was an American songwriter and songwriter.
Zaret, son of the Russian immigrants Max Zaritsky, a clothing manufacturer, and Dora Schiffman, had his name changed in 1934.
He became known in 1955 as the lyricist of the song " Unchained Melody " (music by Alex North ), which is one of the most played songs of the 20th century with 215 cover versions . In 1956 he was nominated for the song at the Oscar in the category " Best Song ".
