Rodelbaan in De Waarbeek ( Hengelo , Overijssel , The Netherlands ) is a steel roller coaster that opened in the early 1930s. It is considered to be the oldest known steel roller coaster in the world.
technology
The train has individual cars with space for four people each. The seats are padded.
The track itself has practically two types of rails: a running rail and a kind of safety rail, which is slightly offset upwards and outwards. The main wheels, which are similar to the wheels of a train, where the wheel diameter is larger on the inside than on the outside, roll on the track. The running wheels also serve as guide wheels. In addition, the trolleys have underfriction wheels , which run below the safety rail and are intended to prevent the trolleys from lifting off.
