Rodrigo Cesar Martins , called Rodrigo Martins , (born October 5, 1978 in São José do Rio Pardo ) is a former Brazilian soccer player .
Career
Rodrigo Martins started playing football early on, on the streets of his native Brazil. His youth clubs included AA Ponte Preta and Vila Nova FC . Before Martins came to Germany in 2004, he played in South Korea for Chunnam Dragons FC .
After two years at Bonner SC , he moved to SV Lippstadt 08 in the Oberliga Westfalen . There he showed his striker qualities and joined the SC Pfullendorf for the second half of the season . After his contract with SC Pfullendorf, Martins was signed by Wacker Burghausen . There he just missed out on penalties in the DFB Cup against Bayern Munich . Shortly afterwards, in May 2008, he tore a cruciate ligament. From January 2010 he was under contract for half a year with FC Bayern Alzenau in the Regionalliga Süd. In August 2010 Martins moved abroad to Hapoel Haifa in the first division in Israel. He played the second half of the season at SV Gossau in the first division, the third highest division in Switzerland. After a short stay in Brunei at DPMM FC , he joined TuS Hiltrup and tore the second cruciate ligament after a few games. After a successful recovery, he let his career end with Westfalia Herne .
Rodrigo Martins was known for his technical skills, he was light-footed and quick to start. He was a specialist in dangerous set pieces and was often able to decide games. He is the cousin of Marcio Amoroso, who was active in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund for several years.
Rodrigo is currently doing his coaching license at the Kaiserau sports school at the Football and Athletics Association Westphalia eV in Kamen .
