Rodrigo Sepúlveda

Rodrigo Sepúlveda (* 1959 ) is a Chilean director. In addition to a few short films and TV series, he has also made two feature films since the 1990s.

Sepúlveda originally wanted to study literature at the Universidad de Chile , but decided on a career as a filmmaker and began to work at Filmocentro . He later became assistant to the director Ricardo Larraín and directed plays until he was finally able to take over the direction of several television series from the 1990s, including Jaguar Yu (1992) and Vigías del sur (2000-2002).

His first feature film, Un ladrón y su mujer , was released in 2001. The next, Padre Nuestro (2005), tells of a daring man who, when he becomes terminally ill, wants to reunite his entire family, from which he has previously moved further and further away. The film was nominated in 2008 for the Goya as “best foreign film in Spanish language” and was the Chilean entry for a nomination as “ best foreign language film ” at the 2008 Academy Awards .
