Roee Rosen (* 1963 in Rechovot ) is an Israeli conceptual artist , author and filmmaker .

life and work

Roee Rosen studied philosophy and comparative literature at Tel Aviv University until 1984 and obtained a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York in 1989 . In 1991 he graduated the MFA at Hunter College in New York. Rosen teaches as a professor at the HaMidrasha - Faculty of the Arts at Beit Berl College in Kfar Saba and at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem . He has published the books A Different Face (2000), Lucy (2000), Sweet Sweat (2001), Ziona (2007) and Live and Die as Eva Braun and Other Intimate Stories (2017).

Rosen invented two fictional characters. Maxim Komar-Myshkin is the pseudonym of the fictional Russian poet Efim Poplavsky (1978-2011). Justine Frank is a fictional surrealist artist and writer from Antwerp.

In 2017 he took part in documenta 14 with the video "The Dust Channel" .
