Roger C. Blockley

Roger C. Blockley (born May 5, 1943 in Leicester ) is a Canadian ancient historian of British origin.

Blockley studied Classical Philology and Ancient History at the University of Leicester ( BA 1964) and at McMaster University in Canada ( MA 1966). He then worked as a lecturer at the University of Nottingham , where he received his Ph.D. received his doctorate .

After receiving his doctorate, Blockley went to Carleton University as an Assistant Professor of Ancient History . In 1973 he was appointed associate professor and later got a permanent position. Since his retirement he worked as a lecturer ( Contract Instructor ) at Carleton University.

Blockley's scholarly work is devoted to late antiquity , with a particular interest in administrative history, diplomacy, and historiography. He presented several fundamental studies in this field, including annotated bilingual editions by various authors that have only survived in fragments.
