Roger Zayas-Bazan

Roger Zayas-Bazán (* in Santo Domingo ) is a Dominican singer.

Zayas began his musical education at the age of ten. At the age of fourteen he began recording jingles for radio and television. At fifteen he was a member of the rock group Juventud '75 alongside Alex Mansilla , Carolina Hernández and others . The following year he founded the group Nasty with Alex Mansilla, Carolina Hernández and Marco Hernández . At the age of eighteen he came to the USA as part of a cultural exchange program and played there for a year in the jazz band and marching band of Columbia High School .

After his return he founded the group Friends with the members of the group Nasty , which was successful at national rock festivals and in 1984 had an appearance with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional . From 1982 to 1984 he worked as a sound engineer at Estudios Ecmas . During this time he also became a member of group 440 (with Juan Luis Guerra , Maridalia Hernández and Mariela Mercado ), with whom he recorded hits such as No me acostumbro , Ella dice , Dame and Acompáneme civil , and he appeared in the shows Jesucristo Superstar , Disco Forever and Vivan Los 80’s on. At the second singing competition of the Casa de Teatro , he and Consuelo won first prize in the merengue category.
