Authentic backdrops serve as venues, in particular the court garden , the inner courtyard of the margravial residence and the former court church of St. Gumbertus . The performers at the festival are members of the Ansbacher Heimatverein, they maintain the costumes and the historical dances such as B. Gavotte , Minuet, Allemande and others

The festival takes place every year at the beginning of July.

history

The Rococo Festival developed from the play "The Wild Margrave", which the local poet Konrad Friedrich wrote. It was premiered on June 10, 1894.

Over the years, further thematically appropriate theater plays were added and historical parades were carried out. In 1932, King Frederick the Great's visit to Ansbach in 1743 was played.

In 1949 the Heimatverein Ansbach e. V. founded, now the Rococo Festival has been developed over time. The margrave and rococo dance group rehearses the historical dances and performs them in historical clothing.

The costumes and wigs are developed and tailored with great effort based on historical portraits of princes.
