Roland Helmer

Roland Helmer (* 1940 in Karlsbad-Fischern / Sudetenland ) is a German painter .

Life

Roland Helmer, born in Fischern near Karlsbad in 1940, studied after attending school in Munich from 1954 to 1958 at the Blocher School for Free and Applied Arts in Munich and then at the Munich Art Academy with Ernst Geitlinger and Georg Meistermann . From 1972 to 1978 he was assistant to Günter Fruhtrunk and taught himself in 1984 and 1985. His wife sometimes taught art at the secondary school in Eichenau and so he came to his studio in Eichenau, as they move into a community apartment in the old schoolhouse could. Roland Helmer was a member of the Eichenauer Kunstverein eV from its foundation until its dissolution in 2010 and from 1994 to 2004 a member of the “New Group” Munich. He lives in Fürstenfeldbruck and works in Eichenau .

Works

The abstract, concrete pictures by Roland Helmer were initially characterized by eight bright colors. With the development of his serial images, the limitation was abandoned and the color palette expanded. His work can be found in numerous museums, in the Fürstenfeldbruck district office (art award winner), in the Puchheim cultural center and in the Eichenau town hall. For the Josef Dering primary school in Eichenau, Roland Helmer designed the classrooms and corridors in Building 2, where his studio is also located, as well as the corridors and rooms in the renovated old building from 1926. “In the context of the constructive-concrete painting, it is noticeable that he implements an individual image within the framework of an image system. This mutual influence leads him to ever new experiments ”. 1981: Wall design using a color relief in the Presidium of the Federal Border Police in Munich, Infanteriestr. 6, 2004: Staircase in the advanced training center of the IHK Munich-Upper Bavaria in Feldkirchen, 2011: Wall design in the residential building in Fürstenfeldbruck, 2011: Wall design at the primary school in Eichenau.
