Rolf oven

Rolf Ofen (born June 2, 1963 ) is a German bioinformatician and has been a professor at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg since 2005 .

biography

In 1989, oven received a diploma in computer science from the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg . He received his doctorate in 1994 from Saarland University . His doctoral supervisor was Gert Smolka . In 2000 he completed his habilitation in computer science at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . From 2001 to 2005 he held the chair for bioinformatics at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena . In 2005 he moved to the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , where he holds the chair for bioinformatics at the Institute for Computer Science.

His main focus is on lattice protein folding and RNA bioinformatics. Rolf Ofen is co-author of more than 100 publications and co-author of the book "Computational Molecular Biology: An Introduction" (Wiley & Sons, Mathematical and Computational Biology Series, 2000). ( ISBN 0-471-87252-0 )
