Reel plotter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The roll plotter is a special form of plotter in which the paper runs over a rubberized roll and can thus be transported back and forth.

The device remains stationary, the output medium is moved through and the drawing pens are only moved in the longitudinal axis of the device. Roll plotters can therefore be built very compact compared to the format of the output medium.

The flatbed plotter is a different design, in which the device must be at least as large as the desired output format, since the paper is fixed in sheets or arcs on a flat surface (e.g. by electrostatics ) and the plotter is using the XY drive moved over it
