Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever , often called Rolling Blackouts CF for short , is an Australian rock-pop band from Melbourne . In 2018 they had their breakthrough with the album Hope Downs .

Band history

Fran Keaney, Tom Russo and Joe White, all three singers and guitarists, had known each other since they were in school and had played together in various bands. Together they formed the band Sports Club from 2009 . In 2013 they took on Marcel Tussie as bassist and Russo's brother Joe as drummer and formed Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever . Their specialty is that they play classical guitar pop with three guitars. First local appearances and quick single releases did not bring them initially any success. With the single Clean Slate, however, they attracted more attention in the music media in 2015 and the interest of Ivy League Records . The Australian label released her first EP Talk Tight the following year , which she has already brought to the radio. They also found an international label with Sub Pop , which released the EP The French Press in 2017 .

With this musical foundation they went on tour, which also took them to other continents. They then recorded new songs in their homeland, which appeared on their debut LP Hope Downs , named after a mine in Western Australia, in June 2018 . The album came to number 24 on the Australian music charts . It was also able to find a place in some European countries such as Great Britain and the Netherlands. In the USA it reached number 3 on the Heatseekers charts . Another worldwide tour followed. After a break, they wrote new songs with more homely themes than content. The second album Sideways to New Italy was released in June 2016 and surpassed the first success with number 4 in Australia. They were also able to confirm their debut internationally.
