The game is played on a basketball court with a length of 76 yards and a width of 25 yards. There is an 8 yard end zone at either end and the rest of the field is divided into four segments, each 15 yards in length. A normal football is used as the ball . The team size varies between 5 and 14 players, but the standard is 6. Both motorized and non-motorized wheelchairs may be used.

A turn ends when a tackle is set. Players with unrestricted arm functions do this by touching the player with their hand, players with restricted arm functions tackle through chair-chair contact. If a pass is thrown at a player with restricted arm function, it is deemed to have been caught if it has had contact with the hand or forearm, while players with unrestricted arm functions must catch the ball safely with their hands.

Four quarters of 15 minutes each are played.
