The Rolnicki Buttresses ( Urwiska Rolnickiego in Polish ) are a group of towering cliffs made of lava rock , agglomerates and tuff of Melville Peak on King George Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . They tower on the shores of Sherratt Bay .
Polish scientists named it in 19841 after the Polish engineer Krzysztof Rolnicki, who participated in two Polish expeditions to the Antarctic (1978–1979 and 1980–1981).
