Romain Pelletier

Romain Pelletier (born August 22, 1875 in Montreal , † November 24, 1953 ) was a Canadian organist, composer and music teacher.

Romain-Octave Pelletier's son studied organ and piano with Arthur Letondal and singing and harmony with Achille Fortier . From 1909 to 1951 he was organist at the St-Léon church in Westmount / Montreal and taught counterpoint, piano and organ at the Nazareth Institute . His students included u. a. Fleurette Beauchamp-Huppé , Gabriel Cusson , Guillaume Dupuis , Conrad Letendre and Georges-Émile Tanguay . He was a founding member of the Société des artistes musiciens de Montréal .

Pelletier composed motets and organ pieces. He also wrote a biographical article about his father, which was included in the Courtes Biographies canadiennes (Montreal 1952).

Pelletier's brother, the cellist Victor Pelletier (1881 to 1953) was a musician, secretary and librarian of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra after 1900 . His brother Frédéric Pelletier became known as a composer and music critic.
