Romeo Records was an American record label from the 1920s.

history

Romeo Records in 1926 as a sub-label of Cameo Records established to exclusively plates for the department store chain SH Kress & Co. to produce. At 25 US cents per record, it was one of the so-called “low-budget labels”. The early appearances under Cameo all had an eye-catching brown label. The material consisted primarily of masters from Cameo and was therefore only republished.

In 1931, Romeo was taken over by the American Record Corporation (ARC), which also included Cameo. ARC changed the appearance of the panels to black in 1931 and finally blue in 1935. New recordings have now been released under ARC, which have also been released by sister companies such as Regal Records , Banner Records , Oriole Records and Conqueror Records . In 1938, after the Columbia Broadcasting System acquired ARC , Romeo was discontinued.
