Cameo Records
Cameo Records was a successful American record label in the 1920s . It has no connection with today's Cameo Parkway label .
history
Cameo Records was founded in 1922 in Manhattan , New York City , where the recording studio and the company headquarters were also located. The label was very successful with jazz and orchestral music over the decade, mainly due to the low price of 50 cents for a record. Cameo also had a few sub-labels such as Lincoln Records , Romeo Records and Cameo-Kid , which was intended for children's music. In 1928 Cameo was taken over by Pathé Records and became a member of the American Record Corporation . Records continued to be released under the name Cameo until 1930.
