Ronald M. Grant

Ronald M. Grant (* 1871 ; † March 8, 1910 in Boston ) was an American organist and church musician.

Grant began studying music at the age of fourteen with Paul Ambrose , organist at St. James's Methodis Episcopal Church in New York. This was followed by a four-year study of composition with Samuel P. Warren , the organist of the Munn Avenue Presbyterian Church .

He then went to Paris, where he was a student of Alexandre Guilmant , who dedicated the Prelude Fa majeur from the 18 Pieces Nouvelles en sept livraisons (1902) to him. In London he devoted two years to studying cathedral choirs. After returning to the USA, he continued studying choral music with Edward Stubbs , the organist of New York's St. Agnes's Chapel .

As the organist and choir director of Grace Church and St. Mark's Church , he dominated the musical life in East and West Orange for more than a decade. Shortly before his death, he became the organist at Phillips Brooks ' Trinity Church in Boston.
