The Ronehamn-Hemse Järnvägsaktiebolag (RHJ) was a Swedish stock corporation .

Several private persons, including Th. Säterwall, applied for a concession in 1897 for the Ronehamn – Hemse railway on the island of Gotland . This concession was granted in the same year. Only then was the Ronehamn-Hemse Järnvägsaktiebolag formed in 1899 , which took over this concession. Erik Andersson was appointed as the site manager.

The company's finances were tight from the start and the average loss was 3000 kronor per year. Therefore the management of RHJ offered Gotlands Järnvägsaktiebolag to buy the company. However, the GJ refused. In 1917 the management asked the king to dismantle the tracks and sell the existing equipment. On June 3, 1918, the shareholders' meeting decided to file for bankruptcy of the company and dismissed all staff.

At a public auction in January 1919, Thure Holmqvist bought the remains of the railway for 15,500 crowns. There were groups in the population who asked him to restart the route. Holmqvist refused to put the line back into operation and had the track system dismantled from August 1920. The proponents of the reopening went to court, the first trial began in September 1920. This ended in July 1923 - by this time the line had already been dismantled. Nevertheless, the legal dispute went to the Supreme Court on several occasions, where the last trial in 1934 resulted in Holmqvist's victory.
