St. Hilaria Chapel

Ronried is a district of Marktoberdorf on the Leuterschach district .

The village with about 155 inhabitants is about six kilometers south of the city center. Ronried is 765 meters above sea level. The place was first mentioned in 1242.

The beginnings of the Ronried Chapel go back to the Middle Ages. The building was originally dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, Saints Afra and Sebastian and the 14 helpers in need. Only since the middle of the 17th century is Saint Hilaria mentioned as patroness. A document from 1498 reports that the Augsburg bishop Friedrich von Zollerngranted 40-day indulgence on restoration donations. The simple Catholic chapel was built around 1500 and expanded in 1679. The tower, which is covered with an onion-shaped dome, was raised by its octagonal top in 1846. The interior is from the 19th century. The altars were built around 1680. The image of the choir altar was replaced by a new one at the end of the 1970s, the side altars received figures of Joseph and Maria - all three motifs were created by Otto Kobel . The chapel was extensively renovated from 2016 to 2018. The place originally belonged to the parish of Wald and was only surrounded by Leuterschach in 1845.

Ronried - former through-town 2010

In 2015, the through-traffic of the OAL 23 district road was widened, among other things, with the loss of historical building fabric from the 18th century (Bickelhof, 1788).
