Otto Kobel

Otto Kobel (born October 7, 1919 in Aislingen , † December 4, 2002 in Luimoos ) was a German sculptor , church painter , actor and director .

Life

In 1928 his family moved to Waal and he came into contact with the local passion play . Between 1949 and 1977 he was seen on stage as the actor of Christ.

In 1953 Kobel married Franziska Magdalena ("Fanny") Mayrhofer in Kaufbeuren. The marriage had three children.

In 1965 Kobel bought a farm in Luimoos, municipality of Rückholz , which he managed himself. Today the business is run by Gottfried Kobel, the couple's youngest son.

In addition to his work as a painter, sculptor, carver and restorer, he continued to stand on the stage, designed the sets, costumes and directed the performances of the Passion and Saints plays in Waal .

The last piece Kobel directed was the Miller Passion in 2001, written by Arthur Maximilian Miller , an Allgäu writer.
