Ascension Day (Kaufbeuren-Neugablonz)
Ascension Day is the name of the parish church of the Catholic parish of the old Catholics Kaufbeuren - Neugablonz .
Building history
The church was built in 1953 according to plans by the Neugablonzer architect Eduard Pietsch, after the congregation first celebrated its services in St. Dominikus in Kaufbeuren from 1946 onwards . Its patronage is dedicated to the saving mystery of the ascension of Christ .
Furnishing
In the apsidal choir, the beginning of the “Little Doxology ” can be read in Uncialis : Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit .
A golden cross floats above the free-standing marble altar with a rock crystal embedded in the middle .
In the four-legged ambo made of metal, a marble slab is embedded on the front side, which shows an open book in the middle. This is identified by an inscription ("EVAN-GELIUM") as a Gospel book from which the Christ monogram rises, while a dove with its nimbus-crowned head and its wings pointing downwards is depicted as a symbol of the Holy Spirit below the Gospel.
On the right side of the entrance there is a Pietà made of Jura marble, which was created by Otto Kobel .
