Fritz Walter (forest scientist)

Fritz Walter (born January 14, 1916 in Eilenburg ; † November 14, 2009 ) was a German economist and forest scientist .

Life

Fritz Walter was born in Eilenburg in 1916. In 1932/33 Walter completed a traineeship in the Merseburg district office . Then he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service . In 1934/35 he again worked as a volunteer at the consumer cooperative in Ammendorf and later was an employee of the Kölleda district office . Before he was drafted into military service in 1939, Walter passed the special matriculation examination in Weimar in 1938 . During the Second World War he was taken prisoner. In 1945 he returned and worked, with one interruption, until 1952 for the district council in Merseburg as a department head. During this time he was already lecturing at various administrative schools in Saxony-Anhalt on budget, cash and accounting.

From 1953 to 1959 Walter was a lecturer and department head at the College of Finance in Gotha . In 1954 he passed the technical college teacher examination in Plauen . In addition to his teaching activities in Gotha, he completed a correspondence course in finance economics at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 1957 he obtained his diploma at the University of Halle and was ebenda with his thesis The financial system in the Federal Republic of Germany to the Dr. rer. oec. PhD.

From 1959 he was senior assistant at the Institute for Forest Economics at the Technical University of Dresden and from 1961 lecturer for business and financial economics at the Faculty for Forest Economics. In 1964 he was with his work The working capital of the state forest farms in the German Democratic Republic: A contribution to the operating economics of the socialist Forestry in Dresden habilitation . From 1969 to 1981 Walter was associate professor for forest management and finance at the forestry section of the TU Dresden.
