Rosa Pavanelli

Rosa Pavanelli (* 1955 in Brescia ) is an Italian trade unionist. She has been General Secretary of Public Services International , the global trade union federation for the public sector , since 2012 .

Life

Pavanelli has a degree in biology from the University of Milan .

Pavanelli joined the union in 1978, when she was working for the Ministry of Labor in Brescia . In 1986 she became a member of the Confederazione Generale Italiana del Lavoro (CGIL) and worked in the secretariat of the FP-CGIL ( Federazione Lavoratori Funzione Pubblica ; Italian Association of Public Employees). In 1999 she was elected regional secretary general of Lombardy and in 2002 she was elected to the national secretariat of FP-CGIL. Since 2005 she has headed the relevant European and international trade union sections.
