The Federal Agency of Air Transport ( Russian Федеральное агентство воздушного транспорта shortly Rosawiazija / Росавиация, in English and mostly international Rosaviation written) is the civil aviation authority of Russia .
The authority is subordinate to the Russian Ministry of Transport and has its seat in Moscow . It is headed by Alexander Neradko, who took over in December 2009. She is a participant of the Interstate Aviation Committee (MAK) of the current and former CIS countries.
history
In 1964, the Ministry of Civil Aviation of the USSR (Министерство гражданской авиации СССР) was established. It was dissolved in 1991 and incorporated into the Russian Ministry of Aviation as a government department. The department was in 1996 the name of Federal Aviation Service of Russia (Федеральная авиационная служба России), from 1999 Russian Federal Service of Air Transport (Федеральная служба воздушного транспорта России) and from 2000 governmental service of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Transport (Государственная служба гражданской авиации Министерства транспорта Российской Федерации).
As part of an administrative reform and in accordance with a decree issued by the Russian President on February 9, 2004, the Federal Air Transport Agency was established. She is not the immediate successor to the State Civil Aviation Service. With its official establishment in 2004, the administrative tasks of the predecessor were divided into three executive authorities. The other two successors are the Rostransnadzor Federal Transport Authority and another department of the Russian Ministry of Transport.

The Federal Air Transport Agency oversees the organization of national and international flights. One of its main tasks is to ensure the safety of the Russian air transport infrastructure.
