Rose Francine Rogombé

Rose Francine Rogombé (born September 20, 1942 in Lambaréné , French Equatorial Guinea , † April 10, 2015 in Paris ) was a Gabonese politician. She was President of Gabon from June 10 to October 16, 2009.

Life

Rogombé was born in Lambaréné in western Equatorial Guinea in 1942. After finishing school, she studied law in France and became a lawyer. Rogombé worked in the Ministry of Women's Rights and Human Rights in the 1980s. She was a member of the Parti Démocratique Gabonais (PDG) party. In February 2009 she was elected President of the Senate in Gabon. In June 2009, after the death of President Omar Bongo , she became the interim President of Gabon. Her successor in office was Ali-Ben Bongo Ondimba in October 2009 .
