Rose Hill (Gladbeck)

Rosenhügel is a district in the Gladbeck district of Brauck . It is in the south of the city. The district borders Gelsenkirchen-Horst in the extreme south and Gelsenkirchen-Beckhausen in the east. Rosenhügel is also referred to as the “green” district of Gladbeck, and one of the trademarks is the wheelbarrow parade on Carnival Sunday. After Schultendorf, with 106 hectares, Rosenhügel is the second smallest district in terms of area and the fourth smallest district in terms of population with 4,908 residents. It is mainly characterized by housing estates and small multi-family houses. 2,544 women and girls and 2,364 men and boys live in Rosenhügel.

At around 15.5%, the proportion of foreigners is above the city average of 11.1%. A fifth of the population is over 65 years old, only 800 are under 18 years old. 32.2% of the residents are Catholic, 29.4% Protestant. 33.7% belong to another denomination or religion or are non-denominational. 50.1% are married, 35.2% single, 8.9% widowed and 5.8% divorced. A good 82 hectares of the 106 hectares that make up Rosenhügel are residential areas. A good 14 hectares are green and forest areas (as of January 2014).
