The Red morepork ( Ninox lurida ) is an owl from the genus of Buschkäuze . He was long considered a subspecies of the Boobook Owl ( Ninox boobook ). The species status is still unsecured.
features
The length is 28 to 30 centimeters, the weight 207 to 221 grams. The top is monochrome, very dark chestnut brown, the shoulder feathers are lined with narrow cinnamon brown. The underside is golden brown with fine yellow-brown spots. The eyes are greenish yellow, the bill and wax skin are greyish. The fawn-feathered legs have gray-brown toes with blackish claws.
The boobook owl and the other forms of the cuckoo's owls are all lighter, with whitish spots on top and equipped with a dark eye mask.
Way of life
The red cuckoo owl lives in the mountain rainforest and presumably feeds on insects. Its singing is similar to that of the boobook owl, but is less clear.

He lives in the Atherton Tablelands in the northeast of the Australian state of Queensland .
