List of apple varieties |
Red winter calvill (also red raspberry apple , winter strawberry apple and winter calvill ) is an old apple variety . The apples are medium-sized, ribbed and not very aromatic outside of suitable locations.
The apple is ripe for picking in October and ripe for consumption from December to April. This apple variety has lost its economic importance, as the fruits often develop black spots on the skin, which do not significantly affect the quality of the apple, but are now perceived as unsavory. The variety is found more often in young orchards.
The variety is susceptible to scab and fruit tree cancer .
