Red missal to Paffrath

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Red Missal to Paffrath is a largely by the then Paffrather resulting Pastor Conrad Voeghe from Dortmund (Conradus Voeghe van Dorptmunde) in the 15th century (1448-1452) Parchment - handwriting . The older Paffrath missal was deliberately destroyed by an unknown hand at the beginning of the 15th century. The new, red missal contains a. a. the reconstruction of ecclesiastical legal provisions, income of the parish Paffrath (Paffrode) or its pastor ( tithe ) as well as regulations in the neighborhood law of the Paffrath Fronhof . Pastor Conrad Voeghe succeeded in reconstructing it through pages of the old missal that happened to be preserved, oral information provided by Pastor Hilbrant Warve von Odenthal and statements from parish people through questioning in court. The missal got its nickname from the leather binding covered with red sheepskin and embossed with a trapezoidal pattern.

The original work is kept in the archive of the Paffrath parish in Bergisch Gladbach . A facsimile of the book is in the Bergisch Gladbach city archive. The book has since been digitized as part of the Codices Electronici Ecclesiae Coloniensis (CEEC) internet project at the University of Cologne .
