Roti Jala

Roti Jala ( Malay for roti: bread, Jala: net) is a pastry from Malay cuisine. The network structure that gives the name is characteristic. It is made from a thin dough made from flour and coconut milk. It gets its special shape from the fact that the dough is poured into the pan through a special, perforated vessel in circular movements, creating a net-like grid that is baked on both sides. Then it is rolled up or folded while still hot and served as a side dish. A similar dish in Malaysia is roti canai .
