Roulette wheel

The mostly wooden roulette wheel consists of 37 calibrated, equal-sized chambers into which the thrown ball - previously made of ivory , now mostly made of plastic - falls after being thrown.

Due to the momentum of the drop, the ball circles under the upper edge. After the speed is no longer sufficient to press the ball to the edge, it moves on a steadily narrowing spiral path in the direction of the plate rotating against the ball movement. Between the top edge and the plate there are eight to ten diamond-shaped metal blocks (rhombuses) that deflect the ball unpredictably before it falls into one of the number compartments.

The arrangement of the numbers within the roulette wheel is standardized and can be traced back to the calculations of the French mathematician Blaise Pascal .

The order of the numbers is as follows: (clockwise)

0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2, 25, 17, 34, 6, 27, 13, 36, 11, 30, 8, 23, 10, 5, 24, 16, 33, 1, 20, 14, 31, 9, 22, 18, 29, 7, 28, 12, 35, 3, 26
